Hey all, I'm at the point where I am writing the two supplements for admissions. The two is question are:

How does the University of Chicago, as you know it now, satisfy your desire for a particular kind of learning, community, and future? Please address with some specificity your own wishes and how they relate to UChicago.

and, er, the other. Can't get to it because it seems that the common app is down.

Anyway, does anyone know what the word limit for these ones are? I already wrote the other, larger and more involved one.

Thanks

I believe it’s somewhere between 250-500 words(: Good luck!

The limit is 500. The commonapp won’t allow anymore than that.

Both are 250…

did that just change. It was 500 words the last time I looked and 500 words still fits in the box. What’s everyone else doing?

500 fit for me too.

Caribgurl - so are you leaving it. I just don’t think Chicago of all schools is going to care if you go a little over the limit. Even 250 words over is not such a big deal if you think you’re essay is that good.

this is from the uchicago writing supplement page on the common app

"Please respond to Question 1 --and, if you choose, Question 2 --by writing a paragraph or two up to a full page, approximately 250 words, for each question. Then choose one of the six extended essay options, indicate your choice, and write a one- or two-page response. "

but i think you’ll be fine

Option 2 is within that limit but the Why Chicago question has passed the limit. Yes, I’m just going to leave it. I honestly didn’t see any limit on my page so I used up almost the whole 500.
