Mine is like, 1050, and I've edited it down from 2000...amazingly. I just feel like I'd be taking something out if I do it. I honestly think it's an easy read. I made a thread about getting someone on here to proofread it, would love it if you could help. : ]

yea I wish they made the minimum 500 and the max like 800 b/c the three essays I've written have been cut to max but I'm still at 589, 603, and 667. Will they get mad with 667?

Mcubed..I think 700 is okay...I was looking at another CC thread in which people who already done with the admissions process posted their essays--most seemed to be around 600, 700 words and they got into great schools.

Mine is still a bit over 1000 and I have no idea how to cut it. :(

Where are these numbers coming from? Does anyone have a link to where it says their limits, or are these just from experience? I'm at 750 and I hadn't even considered a maximum...

There is no "limit" but I am a little nervous sending in an essay of about 1000 words, because you have to realize that the men and women on the admissions boards have to read hundreds...even thousands of these essays. You see, I cut mine down from 2000 words, so I took half out...and I just can't imagine taking anymore out without losing important facts. I read somewhere that about 900 should be your maximum...and I think that is fair. 500 words is very short in my opinion.

I've cut my essay down to about 815 words...should I continue cutting down (really can't think of what else I can get rid of without taking away some of the meaning behind my essay).
