For one of my essays the word limit is 250 words. Is it okay if I go over that, like say around 450 words? I was writing the essay and it seemed short (3 paragraphs) but when I did the word count I was surprised. There isnt really anything I can shorten in my essay without losing the meaning of it. I tried to shorten it when I tried the whole flow of my writing is destroyed. Will going over the word limit hurt me or is it okay to leave my essay the way it is?

Your essay is 80% over the limit. That is a lot.

Don’t fall in love with your own writing. I’ve read hundreds of essays. Every far-over-the-limit essay I’ve seen could have been shortened considerably. You can do it.

450 is too long for a 250-limit statement. Three hundred would be okay but not 450.

Estoy de acuerdo con ellos.

I wrote to 500 word maximum essays that ended up being 550 words, but thats a 10% difference, not 80%, you should shorten your work.
