<p>If scholarships say 500 words or less, I know that it means 500 words or less. I know that sometimes it comes down to applicants who follow the directions. However, will 8 words over the limit ever be detrimental to an application?</p>

<p>Do you feel it is worth chancing it over 8 words? lol I always am over on my essays when I first write them but I find that trying to edit out words is a GREAT way to make sure the essay is the best it can be! I definitely would cut out some words just to be safe. The easiest ones are like "the" or "it".</p>
