I had to memorize this poem (among MANY others) in the 4th grade. Which is why I was familiar with yesterday’s word:

I remember that poem. Thanks for the memory.
I read/watch a lot of period pieces which is why I was familiar with “droll”. Also I believe it’s used more commonly in the UK than the US, but I watch a lot of BBC which is often a period piece so my perception may be wrong.
And @skieurope was spot on with the Frasier reference! Our vocabulary grew during its run. “Jejune”, anyone? I’m going to add that show to my “rewatch” list.
