Does it matter that so many people want to do MoleBio that it will affect your chances?
Or do they not look at the amount?

I realize there probably is no easy answer to this, but given that I'm a white female with interests in many different areas, is there anything that would be more or less useful to emphasize? In other words, would I be better off sending an essay about my passion for chemistry, my passion for languages, or my passion for photography [all of which are viable options]? I've posted my full credentials here, if that helps.

CR is most definitely the hardest section... at least for me. Math and writing are very formulaic - you follow a set of rules and voila (Writing less so, but according to MIT, a longer essay = better score 90% of the time)! CR requires picking out the least incorrect answer, not something that I enjoy doing.

Still, when I see people getting 800 CR and 700 Math, I just wonder how that can happen.

Ya exactly same here. My english teacher said she thinks the verbal is rediculous and not a good measure of verbal skill. Math should be less acceptable to do poorly on because it really is so formulaic.

CR is sooo unpredictable.
We study lists of 10,000 vocabulary words.
Only to fine that 10 of the ones we studied are on there. XD

I wish CR counted for more!

I totally understand whoever said that a 800 CR and 700 math is weird...I got double 800s on my other two sections and 650 math! Pretty ridiculous...luckily I'm retaking this weekend (and not applying ED obviously).

Still, though, I would rather take CR 5 times than take math. I make way too many dumb mistakes.

I got an 800 CR and 680 Math and a 5 on the AP Calc exam. Welcome to the weird world of standardized testing.

I kinda wish there were cutoff scores. That way we would know one way or another. They make it seem like by not having cut off scores it eases the pressure, but it just adds to it. I wish there was a cutoff score and if you had it SATs become irrelevant completely and if you dont then you really have to prove yourself in other areas

^harsh as that may sound, i do too! hehe

i got an 800 on math SAT I and a 780 on the math 2 SAT II but B+'s in pre-calc and calc. lol.

haha I got a 730 on my Bio E sat II
Which is "low" on your standards probably
But not on mine
Because I hate bio and it's my all-time worst subject.
And I was expecting a 500
Because some people I knew who were waaay smarter than me in bio
Got 550s-600s
So I was happy =)

OMZ I got a 730 too!! And I was so excited because before taking it, while taking, and after taking it I was convinced I got a 350.

lmao okay when I take tests-- my first time through I answer all the questions I know FOR SURE.
Then when I go back over it, I answer all the others that I think I can answer.

So on the Bio SAT II, after my first time through...I only filled out 11 lol (the ones I knew for sure)

But by the end of the test, I realized...I had filled in all the questions except for 3 of them. So I was like, "Oh crap, I guessed on everything, I'm for sure gonna fail this one."

=)

I know that for the class of 2010, more admitted students had CR scores of 800 than had Math scores (SAT I) of 800.

I also know that more testers out there score 800 on the SAT I Math than on the Critical Reading. If you're not MIT, Cal Tech, etc., I think the tendency of most colleges is to value the CR the highest.

no, thats ridiculous axman. living somewhere DOESN'T change your race

k good. i didnt put it down, but i just read the statement and wanted to make sure..
