Work experience COOP program QUESTION? Please help.

So my HS offers a "Work experience program (COOP) This is the description:

Year, ½ - 2 credits … A program for students, in grades 11 & 12, consisting of paid, supervised work
experience. Work experience offers students the opportunity to apply the learning of the classroom
to the world of work. Positions are available in local businesses or within the school district.
Students may earn up to 2 credits and receive a grade. Cooperative Work Experience is scheduled
as a 10th or 11th period and does not affect the student’s academic schedule. Students are
responsible for providing transportation to and from the career site.

My question says is that it says I will earn two credits. Are these two credits valuable? Do they count towards my GPA?? (I’m going to be in Junior year if I decide to take this class)

I’m literally just so confused on what Co-Op is sorry if this is a dumb question-- I’m only asking because it says I will receive a grade.

Cooperative education (or co-operative education) is a structured method of combining classroom-based education with practical work experience. A cooperative education experience, commonly known as a “co-op”, provides academic credit for structured job experience.

Just do it if you are interested in a exposure to work experience. It isn’t considered college prep credits, so I don’t know how valuable it is in that sense. Ask your school if it is counted in your gpa, they are the ones who decide.

Thanks!!

Just a few other thoughts occurred to me.

A bit of work experience can be helpful in getting the next job on campus, which can also help you with internships. Also some colleges have coop programs, especially in engineering and you can earn money. Some people want the exposure to explore what it is like in that particular type of workplace, or to gain confidence and skills not taught in school. Look to see if the program is more geared to student who are not going to college or if this is meant for college bound kids or both.

Thanks a bunch! Your responses were really helpful, I’ve decided to ask Guidance on Monday.
