I have about 1.5 yrs work exp as a software developer. I have heard that although business schools ask for 2 yrs work experience, its extremely difficult to get accepted with just 2 yrs experience. Usually, people have 4-5 yrs experience. I am just wondering for those who have gone through the admission process, to share your thoughts on what would be regarded as enough experience to get into an "average" business school. Assume, that my GMAT score would also be average. And i have a BSc degree with 80% average.

Also, would an MEng degree help make a better case...I'm guessing not.

I can't answer the admission portion of your question because I was admitted to business school too long ago when the rules were different.

I can tell you, however, that the business school you choose makes a heck of a lot of difference when it comes to getting a job at a top company. MBAs are a dime a dozen; I always look at where someone went to business school if they are applying for an entry-level job, unless their work experience is so stellar as to supercede that. (Of course, if their work experience is that stellar, then I still wonder why they went to an "average" school...unless they did some kind of exec. MBA program/at night/etc.)

Also, the top companies recruit at the top business schools. It's very important to look at the business school you are considering to see who and how many companies in your field recruit there.
