Hey guys I'm going to be applying to a few of the UC's (LA, Bezerk, SD, Irvine...) with the major of Neuroscience and i have been wondering what looks better on the application.

I am working for a Medical Imaging Software company at the moment, and by the time I will apply I'll be working here for about 3 years.

Would working part-time like this or volunteering at a hospital be better?

I’d do the paid stuff, and play up you putting yourself through school while gaining valuable work experience.

I can’t imagine that any volunteer work at the hospital would match the relevance that the medical imaging job has (assuming you’re doing more than answering phones).

Didn’t we go over this in another thread? Not all EC’s are created equal. Flipping burgers at mcdonalds does not make you look better than anyone. It’s the TYPE of work, and the TYPE of volunteering that you are doing that makes you look good. If it relates to your major, good, if it’s leadership roles, even better. Again, not all EC’s carry the same weight. If someone is college president and works as a tech support at some company for years, doesn’t he look better than someone who flipped burgers and volunteered cleaning old peoples vomit for two years? I think so.
