Work experience while in high school...how much impact does it bring on the apps?

I'm a sophomore in high school right now. I don't have too much time on the weekends, but I have seen many college apps and they ask you the question: "Have you had any work experience, internship, or other job while in high school?"

Is it really that important? I mean, its very hard to have a job while taking all those tough AP classes which take up a lot of time. Does it really make one stand out that much to college adcoms?

I think colleges are only interested if you are working to support your family
You shouldn't just take a job if u just want it to help with college apps, cuz its not a big boost
use your time to prep for classes and tests instead

Work experience, by itself, it not that important unless it involves a lot of time or is unusual. Apps provide plenty of opportunities to list your activities outside of school. If your life consists of going to school and maybe a few usual-type EC's, you will not be in a strong position for very selective or reach schools. What takes up all your weekend time? If you just study or take it easy, your app will be weak.
