Work Experience

I have a question about work experience. All of the school's websites in north Texas that I have looked at have had requirements of at least 2 years "post baccaluareate" wrok experience.
Does anyone know if pre-undergraduate work experience is considered? In my situation, I joined the military after high school for 4 years and then went to work for Halliburton where I have been for the last 5 years. While working for Halliburton full time, I have also been going to school for my BS full time. I will finish up in August of this year. So, technically, I will not have the required post-bachelor's work experience.

What do you think?

Also, I started a thread in the graduate school forum with a few questions about an MBA vs an MPH if anyone would like to take a look and offer their insight.

Thanks

I think it mainly depends on the type of work you were doing, rather than when you were doing it. If you were doing professional-type work which someone with a degree might do, then it will probably count. However, moving boxes or cleaning floors probably wouldn’t be sufficient.

The schools mainly want you to have done professional work, so you can immediately see how the lessons in the MBA classroom could be applied in the workplace. That enriches the classroom and makes it more valuable for you as the student.

Thanks bart. I have talked to UT Dallas and UT Austin this week and both say my work experience is definitely sufficient.
