Hey! I’ve got questions about working/finding a job at BU. Are there a lot of open jobs on campus for freshman (whether it’s related to my major or just as a clerk), or do most students find a job working somewhere near off campus? Does anyone know the minimum wage on campus? I heard somewhere near $9/hr. I don’t have work study, so will that hinder or help in getting a job on campus?

I have to take this into consideration since their financial aid is kinda crappy (for me at least), and I’m trying to stay away from loans. Thanks. =]

I think jobs are pretty easy to find on campus even if you don’t have work study. I didn’t have work study myself and just applied to jobs that I could find on our job board(which can be found on the student link). It’s separate from the work study jobs so the employers on campus don’t really care if you have it or not. As long as you’re qualified, and can interview fairly well, you’ll be fine. There’s not really a lot of minimum wage on campus but the salary can range any where from $8/hr to $10/hr.

Most people I know who have jobs here are on campus. I would actually recommend that you get a job on campus though since during finals, they will be more understanding and let you rearrange your work schedule as opposed to an independent company or business that won’t be so flexible.

Thanks! At least I’ll have some way to earn more money during the year.
