Hi I was just wondering how heavy the workload is at Dartmouth. I know since it's Ivy League that it's probably a lot, but I'm not exactly top of my class and really don't want to spend all my free time working like I know kids at Cornell do. Any input?

People like to make a lot of stereotypic generalizations about schools to distinguish one from the other. One school is labled "intellectual" another is a "party school", another "liberal", another "convervative"... All of those are too simplistic. Students at Cornell know how to have fun. Students at Dartmouth take their studies seriously.

Understand that if you have the qualifications for acceptance at Cornell or Dartmouth, you have the ability to do well, but you will work at either school. Dartmouth is a quarter system school which means you that you typically only take three courses per term, but the courses move as much material is fit into a short term.

How much work you will devote to your studies in any college is going to be a function of many things including your study habits, your high school prepartion, your native abilities, your major...
