work study, anyone?

Soo is anyone doing work study? I'm pretty scared that I won't be able to handle it all - adjusting in a different environment, college life, workload, etc...
But yeah, when do we apply for work study and stuff?
Oh, and also.. a question about 9Pay thing.. Is anyone applying for that?

I do work study. It shouldn't be too hard for you at first, but it does get harder to balance everything when you start being more involved in other things on campus. The time you're working is the time other people have to do their homework. That said, I have had a great experience with work study, and it's really nice to be earning money.
By applying for work study I do you mean finding a job? That's very much up to you. You look on the work study website, and apply to whatever looks interesting. I'd suggest waiting a little longer, but don't forget about it.

theres a fair just for WS kids first week, thats where most kids find ther ws jobs

I do homework during my work-study job. a lot of campus jobs allow you enough free time to do this, so it really doesn't cut into studying time at all.

are there work-study jobs that involve research? how much do work study jobs usually pay? also, how many hours do most of you work-study during a week?

There are work study jobs that involve research.I don't think most people get them as freshman, though I may be wrong about that.
Pay varies. From what I've heard, off campus and athletic jobs pay more.
I try to work 9 hours a week, although sometimes I can't fit that in.
And yes, you can definitely find jobs that allow you to do homework. Although I haven't heard of as many well paying jobs that let you do homework (they do exist though).

i'm at my work study job right now, haha. i work 9 hours a week this quarter and get paid around $7.40. not bad considering i barely do anything besides work. i applied to do saferide next year--it's $10/hr driving for the escort service, and it won't conflict with my classes/meetings/other job during the day, so hopefully that works out.
