I’m planning on doing work study but do they give you time off during the breaks or do you still have to work during the holidays/breaks? I would like to go home during those times obviously and spend time with friends and family instead of being away for the whole year because of it.

It depends on where you’re working. For example, if you’re going to work in the dining halls for work study, you would get time off during breaks because the dining halls are closed during holidays/breaks (except spring break). On Aggie Job Link, when you look up any jobs (whether they’re for work study or not), they will tell you whether they expect you to be available during breaks or not.

In the end it’s your choice if you want to work during breaks or not! Most places do generally have breaks, as well, during nationally recognized holidays, such as Christmas, so you probably would not be obligated to work then. Just speak to your supervisor and let them know how you feel about it beforehand.

@sopranokitty really? I’m looking at the postings and they don’t say… they say which months but nothing about breaks/holidays.

but that could be because most postings are for summer right now?
