My daughter has substantial work study funds unearned because they have been waiting for approvals and stuff to arrive for a project. The supplies just arrived but of course finals are fast approaching. I am guessing work study monies must be earned by the end of the semester - is that right? Or can she still earn work study monies for a week or so once the semester is over? (she is not doing summer school at all).

I know she will find this out from her FA dept. but *I *am curious to know and she will probably get round to finding out next week sometime!

I believe that work-study money earned in the summer is for the following years financial aid. that is how it worked for me back in the dark ages.....

Hmm - that would work. she has a $3400 WS award for next year which is more than she is likely to earn. We were planning to convert part of it to a loan but if she can earn part of it in the summer that would be better. It would only be a week or so - she has a job in the Appalachians most of the summer.

Well I managed to find some blurb about it - the WS job cannot continue into the summer (which i kind of suspected). So I guess it will depend if the prof wants to (or is able to) have her work in a non WS capacity. It has been a learning experience. Hope next years job is a little more dependable!!

My D has had work study and her job allowed her to work over the summer- they said:

Work-study competed during summer 2007 is counted towards the 2007-2008 academic year.
