Work Study

Hi!
I have an interview for a federal work study position at my school’s scholarship office. This will be my first time applying for a job and getting an interview so I’m excited and nervous at the same time. My list of questions:

  1. Should I bring my resume?
  2. What are some potential interview questions?

*I’m a bit worried because the job emphasizes customer service and I only have volunteering experience where I didn’t work with customers but more with my team members.

Thanks

If you have a resume, it is often easier to remember details of your job by glancing at it (“I answered the phones and help resolve issues when I worked in the school’s attendance office”).

One important part of working in the FA office is privacy. Try to think of times you had to keep information confidential, like helping a teacher record grades or as an officer of a club in high school. They’ll want to know if you are good with details, with remembering a job listing for a lab aid when a chem major comes in. There might be some questions about how organized you are. Have examples ready, or if you have no experience in that area, say so but that you are interested in learning xyz.

@twoinanddone I will keep all of your tips in mind. I’m actually good with details and organized as well so I will emphasize that. Thank you so much for taking the time to respond!
