Work Study

Hi,

Just wondering if other people also got $4000 in work study. How much time does it usually take to work this off and how much do the work study jobs usually pay?

america reads is a popular workstudy job that gives you about 10-15 hours a week to work with kids in local schools and they pay around $10 an hour, $12 if you go to brooklyn...i think this might be helpful http://www.ed.gov/inits/americareads/coluniv.html

https://dormaid.com/default.asp

This is a college dorm cleaning service. Some kids can make money for school, and other kids who need their dorms cleaned get the service they need at a good price.

NYU has gotta work on getting this...I know I would have used this service had it been around in my residence hall days.

Uhh...I would much rather help kids read than clean a dorm. That's just me though...

Yes, but there would be more of demand for dorm cleaning services, it would pay better..and you won't even have to leave NYU--plenty of students there who want their dorms cleaned will give a service like this mucho business.

so helping kids read is the only Work Study program NYU offers?

...can someone answer please? are these the only Work STudy programs available at NYU?

No, America Reads is not the only workstudy program. Why are you getting so concerned about this?! Yikes. You're not even moved in yet and you're worrying about workstudy? Calm down. There are lots of different kinds of workstudy jobs on campus in addition to the AmericaReads one.

haha:) I'm not worried--I just wanted an answer. Thank you, very much, for it!

......wow. You're right, I do sound a little desperate......:) woops....

what kind of other work study things are there to do?

please understand: I live in a middle of nowhere suburbia on steroids and have nothing better to do than homework....this NYU thread is getting me through my last 51 days of high school.

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound harsh but you're gonna drive yourself crazy! :) Workstudy jobs include: working in pretty much every type of office at NYU, working at the student center, the library, working the front desk in your dorm, you'll find that there are lots of different options. Doesn't mean you'll get your choice, though, especially as a freshman but yeah, you have lots of time to worry about that in August, not now!

:) august isn't close enough....

those sound interesting! :) i'm excited.

.....you're right though. I'm living way ahead of myself. Controlling my passions is something that my mother has ben telling me to do since I'm a little girl--when I'm fixated on something.....I can't get enough.

hmmm.

tell me, do you donate blood?
