thank you
with 12 AP exam and 1 year 8 u of mn college couses, 3 years graduate may not hard ,but plus $4000 work-study a little worry?

Haha, I’m not sure what you’re trying to say, but I’m sure that you can pull it off. Good luck :).

At $10 an hour, you probably can’t make $4000 in a year. Assuming that you wear 10 hours a week and work 30 weeks, that’s only $3000.

College is about learning how to manage your time wisely. You can totally fit in work study if you know how to manage your time. I do work study 8hrs/wk plus classes and extra-curricular. Yeah, it takes time away from my day, but I like getting money to pay for things I need.

I also had $4000 my first year and that was wayyyy too much. I probably made less than a quarter that amount, as I was adjusting to college life and starting to get involved in other campus activities. The people I knew who were most adept at making up that difference were security monitors, or those worked at the dining commons or the library-- you know, brainless work that passes a LOT of “time” (erm, hours) by giving you an opportunity to study on the side or meet new people.

As for me, I eventually found out that working the summers count towards your yearly estimated work-study contribution. Generally speaking, the amount offered by the financial aid office decreases every year. So that my second year, I had $3500. I stayed at Cal over the summer after freshman year, took two classes to achieve part-time status (so that you get financial aid; in my case, to cover my whole summer tuition) and worked when I was out of class. Even while working reasonable hours (between 12-20 hours/week) during the summer, I was able to cover the entire $3500 amount in a period from June to October. My work kept me on after my work-study earnings expired, so I got extra income for working during the school year.
