So, I have been deciding between hoping into an internship to gain real-world experience or getting more involved in school by picking up a hobby (I want to join NSU's Kyodo Taiko group). Now, keep in mind that I am a junior, soon to be senior. I only have about 1 year left of school until I graduate. It worries me that the few UCLA grads I have talked to (CS major, Business major, Poli Sci major) said that they could not find a job for at least a couple of months. Moreover, these select few did not have much work-related experience to put onto their resumes. All of them suggested that I start interning at least sometime in my 3rd year. With that said, do you guys think I should spend my time gaining experience rather than having fun? Will it make THAT much of a difference? It makes sense to gain as much experience as you can to prepare you for the corporate world (or whatever else), but I thought some of you could support counter-claim. All opinion are appreciated.
