Workbooks... Do they help? Do I need them?

Ok guys, I did a diagnostic test (the online one) and got these scores:

CR: 560
WR: 620
M: 710

Well, I think i need to practice writing and CR ALOT. I'm learning the Barron's high frequency list but I will run out of practice questions soon. I don't really need a workbook for math but I think i need one for CR and WR.
Exactly what does the workbook contain? Just a multitude of questions? If it helps I'll get it. I want to raise my CR score to at least 650 by the october test date. Is this possible?

And one last thing, which workbook is better? The Kaplan or the Barrons?

THanks in advance guys,

anyone????

Sorry about the lack of posts. I hate when I post a question that can be answered easily and noone bothers to help out someone else.

Yes, workbooks are an excellent resource. They help you focus on a particular area such as writing and reading in your case. I have not worked with a Kaplan book that targets a certain area but I have had extensive experience with all 3 workbooks provided by Barron's. The book go into a lot of detail and provide an endless amount of problems which should solve your dilemma about running out of work to do.

Fair Warning All 3 Barron's workbooks go much, much higher in difficultly than any SAT that I have encountered. Some of the math problems were ridiculous and time consuming while some of the verbal recall questions were just insane. It's great practice but don't expect the Barron's to be an accurate measure of how you will do on the real SAT. Hope I helped you out!

hey man thanks alot, ok so im gonna get workbooks for CR and WR but now i need one question answered

which is the better workbook? Kaplan or Barrons?

Kaplan for writing. I don't know about CR, but I read good things about Barron's...Personally, Barron's is too much work for me.

Look back at your SATs. Or if you don't have a test copy than just think about what went wrong. Were there words you didn't know? If so, then work a lot on vocab. If the reading confused you, try getting a college textbook on a topic that interests you and reading it, paying special attention to really understanding sentiences.

And practice helps.
