Workforce Recruitment Program for College Students with Disabilities

Does anyone here know any information about this? Do they have a lot of opportunities for someone who is inclined towards the sciences? I'm particularly interested in those that involve computing or statistics skills, or anything that can help me develop skills for grad school.

And are all disabilities equal in this program? I have asperger's syndrome and ADD-PI so I'm wondering if opportunities for me are similar to the opportunities that people with other disabilities have.

Why don’t you look into volunteering? My son (also an Aspie) volunteers at a local historical society, he’s into history, artifacts, that sort of thing. It has nothing really to do with his disability. Volunteering gets your foot in the door.

I would suggest if you like the sciences, at a medical facility, or some kind of nonprofit. Science museum? Anything to do with kids? i.e. computer classes…you have a BS degree, I take it? If you have a BS, try substitute teaching. You could sub in computer lab.

Statistics might be hard to find volunteer placement for…I am at a brick wall there…

Yeah, ideally, I’d like to volunteer (and that’s what I’m trying to do). The only issue is that my parents are getting impatient with me (accusing me of irresponsibility/etc) and are threatening to cut off my college tuition and force me into menial labor unless I get a paid job.
