Can you be a full time student and still work part time?
Depends on the job and the hours. Most students can work a 10 hour per week job. Remember, as a full time student, going to school is your major job.
If you need to work, look for something that is major related vs. just earning money. S is a business major. 2nd semester freshmen yr he needed more spending money. I told him to get a job (10 hrs / week max). After speaking to some people on campus, he got a job / internship in the Controllers Office, She’s the 2nd in command (reports to the VP of Finance of the University). It’s actually an entry level accounting type job (kind of boring but it beats flipping burgers) that he’ll be able to leverage in future interviews. He’ll also meet some influential people for LORs, etc. Colleges are businesses (non profit). There are many jobs that will provide both income and relevant experience. Just takes looking for them.
Most students do because it’s the only way their families can afford college. Have you ever been on a college campus and seen who works in the bookstore, at the library, gym or in the cafeteria? Students who rely on campus jobs for spending money and beyond.
So yes, you can do it. But working in addition to going to school full time means you will need to be more disciplined and probably enjoy a more limited social life. Which isn’t a bad thing
You mentioned in another thread that your parents aren’t helping you pay for school. If that’s the case, you may need to work full-time and take classes as you can afford them. What state are you in? Will you be commuting to a cc?
EVERYONE I knew in college had a part time job. Everyone.
Yes, it’s possible.
And with a 3.8, I had the low GPA-- most of my friends had a 4.0
