Working as a custodian..

I'm a rising junior and I might be going to work as a custodian.

But yesterday, while I was talking to my friend, this topic comes up and

my friend told me I deserve more than that and custodian is the lowest and worst job he can think of.

Actually, I think I'm a pretty good student and might deserve more than this.

my GPA, I guess it's above 3.9 - don't exactly know, yet - and I won first place in my county's math competition.

But the problem is, I just moved from another country to U.S. So, my English is not as fluent as other people.

My friend recommended me to get another job at the mall near my home, and I just don't know what to do.

Could anybody help me out?

A custodian may be considered the “worst” job out there, but at least it’s still a job. You shouldn’t be complaining as many other people would take your spot. If I were you I would stick with the job and at least wait until you can get hired somewhere else. Your GPA and achievements should not matter for a part time job. If it was a career then that would be different.

Then… what if it is assured that I could get another job at the mall other than a custodian?

Cuz most likely I’ll try to get a job there, and according to what I’ve heard, it’s pretty probable.
