So i was recommended by my one professor to be a lab assistant for chemistry next semester. I am a biochem major, but I was hesitant at first because I felt like I did not do well in the class that I will be assisting in. i got a B, but struggled on the tests. However, I decided to accept the offer, its only 4 hrs a week, and ill make minimum wage. The main reason though, is I felt like it would look good on my resume. Did I make a good choice?

it’ll depend on what you’re doing. 4 hrs/week doesn’t sound like much. It’ll probably be grunt work, so don’t worry about your knowledge on the subject. You’ll be an extra pair of hands to help out with the dishes, running tests, running errands, thing like that, most likely.

Agreed, 4 hours seems a bit light. Any idea what you’ll be doing? Something is better than nothing though.

what ill be doing is assisting the other students in their labs. I took the same lab that I will be assisting in last semester. I basically just am there for assistance and help. I still plan on getting another job, I accepted this for the experience/resume builder

As you mention 4 hr. in week sound’s less. If you mention the same in resume then it will reflect that you are just doing job to make your resume healthy. So try to make it more in hr. else find another one. As part of your decision is good.

Well I was told that more responsibilities could come if I continue assisting, which I would assume would be more hours
