Has anyone ever held a part-time job in SF during their time at Cal? I've got a job right now at a national food service chain that I could continue when I go to school; the only problem is that the closest option is in the city, a couple stops away on the BART. I'd likely be working 3-5 days a week, and obviously the schedule wouldn't conflict with classes, but I'm unsure if the distance would be a problem.

Is this feasible?

That’s not too bad. There are actually a lot of students that work part-time in SF and go to school full-time. I’ve actually worked part-time this semester (Civic Center station, and then walk 13 minutes to the building). I went to SF 3 days a week, starting work at 7am (i had to wake up at 5am), so it is feasible, but it can be very draining. Just make sure you have two days (or three days) where you only have one class (in the morning) and then go to work afterwords. I had to go to work from 7am to 11am and then I came back barely just in time to buy lunch and head off to class.

Edit: BART hurts the wallet. :(

you can try and live in SF and schedule all your classes on two or three days a week. that might save some money. that is what i will do, although i will drive from sausalito. but the Toll is 5 dollars a day. plus gas. then if you work the rest of the week, you would not need to commute. and living in SF is much nicer in my opinion than living in berkeley. good luck.
