Working out

I know certain swimmers on our swim sqad who vary between 4-7 percent... it's possible. They aren't "emaciated" but they are very very thin.

Creatine isn't that great for you though
i use myoplex protein shakes (i purposefully found a good one without creatine)

I wouldn't recommend creatine until you have a very stable workout and diet plan that you are used to. Most people screw it up by lifting sporadically or not drinking enough water. Realistically, creatine should not be used unless you have reached a plateau or are looking to take your lifting to the next level of fitness once you are already successful.

I was probably really dehydrated that day, seeing as it was after competition. I wasn't aware of the accuracy problems with the machines, so excuse my assumptions of credibility.

I second Rippetoes, and then 5x5 after the recommended number of stalls.

As for supplements- try eating right first. Eat healthy, and count calories. No need to obsess over diet when you are just trying to get into shape. Once you have a sound diet, try multivitamins, fish oil, and whey protein. Remember...they are just SUPPLEMENTs.

I'm sorry, but I am 100% sure that you are nowhere near being 4~6%. The facts.

You may be pretty athletic, though.

And I understand if there were problems with the machine...but a 4.4% claim is enough to make anyone LOL hard IRL.

Lol, so I did a little research... and they agree somewhat, I guess, but one source disagrees with the other two.

Understanding Your Body Fat Percentage has 2-4% be essential, while Body Fat Calculator has 7-9% as very low, lol (according to their little calculator I have 8%, but I imagine that height plays some role and it doesn't account for that, so I dunno, lol).

A Guide to Body Fat Percentage agrees with the first source and says that 3% is essential. Maybe very low is still fine?

Oh, and the third link says that the average for football players is 9-12%, and I imagine that the football coaches shoot for the ideal, so anyone with a 4.4% barely-there-with-essential-body-fat would, I think, be put on a diet.

135lb spaghetti arms?!!?!?!?!?

thats HEAVY. like the football people/wrestlers are like that weight.

im only 90!

Once I stopped playing football, I thought I was going to balloon, but I'm staying steady at 175. Maybe now if I start to work out, I can bring it down or add some more muscle.

I weigh more than average for my height (I'm 6'0, 205 lbs) but surprisingly, I'm not fat at ALL. Everyone that sees me puts my weight at about 185. I guess I have high bone density, because I don't know where else the weight is coming from.

Lately though, I've been developing the slightest gut, and that worries me. This thread reminds me that I need to start lifting again. I used to lift a lot when I played football in 9th-10th grade, and I just kinda fell off since then.

Good looks on that Rippetoe's program, I just DL'ed it for free, lol. I used to be on the 5x5, I'm gonna try something different now.

Isn't it funny how guys want to gain weight and most girls want to loose it? I thought i would just muse here

Creatine isnt for endurance. Another reason I told a new guy to lay off supplements when you don't know what they are supposed to do. Jesus. And no, its not bad for you either.

rofls, my english teacher last year was obsessed with creatine, he'd bring it up whenever he could lol.

If you have muscle, that's not actually that much weight. It depends.

I'm 5'11 155lbs, skinny as hell, I'm bulking now to like 170.

^^^^Invoyable, it's not hard to get ur body fat %. Most football/ wrestling coaches have a special scale for it (or at least mine did). And 7-8% body fat, which i said i am, probably less now because i've been running a lot, isn't that impressive. Like 8% bf is enough to clearly see a six pack and i think essential fat is like 2%. A lot of pro corners and widerecievers have like 3-5% bf.

You don't understand, at all, how body fat works.

Go read up on body fat, or go join some professional website on fitness, etc. Fat is essential, and the amount you describe are ridiculous.

Athletes', yes, pro ones' ranges are 6~14%.

3~5%? I LOL'd.
