As an activity on Common App, I put working 10-15 hours a week at friend's Dad's food place (which is a franchise like a Subway). Now, I'm applying for some of the financial aid at some of these these colleges. The problem is, I work under the table. So I really can't put any "income tax" information on these forms. But this is in contradiction to my common app, where I said I had work experience at this local franchise 10-15 hours a week. Will colleges see this contradiction and view it as lying? Is there anything I can do? Or am I fine putting my income taxes at 0 and my savings as $1000 or whatever they may be? Let me know, I'm kind of confused and flustered considering I already applied a few places.

Whether or not your employer reports that you are working there, you are obligated to file taxes for yourself. The folks at your public library can put you in touch with the local tax volunteers (usually retired accountants, so they are pretty good at this) and they can help you sort your individual situation out.

It’s entirely possible that you don’t earn enough to owe income taxes anyway…go to the IRS website (irs.gov). But, if you work under the table, then YOU are responsible for paying both the employer and employee portion of mandatory payroll witholdings for SS/Medicaid. It’s a bad idea and it can cause problems for both you and the employer if you become unemployed or get hurt at work as well since he’s not covering you on his (likely mandatory) insurance.

But what should i put on my fin aid statements? I said i worked 10-15 hrs a week on common app, but that would go against me putting 0 for student income.

Put you actual earnings on your FA statements.
