I'm still in high school but I was planning on getting a job when I turn 18 in December. My mom said its best not to work while still in school because I wouldn't be able to manage my time or be as focused on school.
I just wanted to start since I could help save money for college and was going to get a head start on my resume.Even if I went to college my mom would prefer I just do school and not work at the same time. She said its better to hold off working as long as possible because you have to pay taxes.
But I heard people that work actually do better in school.I understand it might be hard to manage but I think in college it would be easier.
Did you or your children work while in high school or and college?

it wouldn’t hurt to have a part-time job 8-10 hours a week (don’t do more). i don’t know about how taxes would work based on your family’s income, but i’d definitely say do your research (as in talking to people besides parents-- i’d suggest looking on “.gov” websites) before making a final decision.

i’ve found that working has helped me get my mind off of school for a bit and it’s been a nice break. do it if you can!
