A student from my community is interested in working with the basketball team. He has a good chance of being accepted as a transfer student next year, coming in as a sophomore. Does anybody know if this is possible? I'm thinking many people on campus would want to do this, making the few (if any) jobs very hard to obtain...He thinks it would be interesting way to learn more about the game of basketball and is willing to do the 'grunt' work in order to be a part of the program. Any thoughts?

It's VERY hard to get a job with the basketball team and the jobs are often very time consuming. One of my closest friends was offered the position to be the manager for the women's basketball team until he realized that he would have no other time to participate in any other clubs.

I've heard you have to work your way up, maybe by working with the JV team first, but it's even hard to get a job with them. I have a friend that did, but she had connections through her dad or something.

You almost have to have some kind of connections to have a chance, at least for the Men's team. Don't know about the women's. It's true that it's very time consuming, but you do get paid, plus all of the free travel/clothes/etc on top of that.

Bump...Any other thoughts or advice for this kid??

Go work with the camps this summer and get a leg in.
Pay a visit to Mr. Williams.
