I’ve been wondering lately, how exactly is the schedule for college (and especially pre-med) broken down?

From what I understand I need about 16 credits a semester so roughly 5 courses. How many times do classes meet a week generally and how many hours at a time?

Every time I here about the workload it seems insane. Right now (senior year of highschool) I am taking AP Bio which is really hard at my school (a lot of my friends at other schools get over 100’s on tests while the average grade is like a C at mine) and AP stat, along with all my other classes and that keeps my really busy most of the time. How is it with classes when going pre-med?

I am also very into working out and eating right so making food and exercising generally takes up 1-2 additional hours a day. Is there going to be time to take all the classes, do all the work/studying, workout, and have a social life while getting a reasonable amount of sleep??

You'll have more work and studying to do, but the other side is that you'll also have more time to do it in; time management and efficiency are key.

It's perfectly possible to have a normal life while pre-med, though you will be busy. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. You won't have to give up eating right, exercising, friends, etc. It's a matter of prioritizing.

In a very basic sense... 16 credits would mean roughly 16 hours per week in class (usually a bit more)

it's most likely 4 classes since some have recitation/lab

3) nobody knows how efficient you are/will be

by it being 4 classes you mean its likely i'll be taking 4 classes per semester or it's likely i'll have 4 classes of each subject each week?

well that's a little reassuring, I'm already busy so I'm somewhat used to it. Hopefully I won't burnout. I still have to decide if I'm going to take a few extra classes and minor in Bio

its doable ... right now im in college and taking 17 credits including ~15hr/week volunteering and ~8hr/week doing research... i guess it will be easier for you in college because you'll have more free time between classes (depending on your schedule) but high school classes are back to back so its kind if difficult. thats just my observation.
