i'm wondering what the workload will be like to take ee122, cs169, and cs188 together in the fall semester. is it too much of an overkill?

They all have programming assignments and projects, so expect the workload to be higher than some other courses like math, CS theory, economics, etc…

I did 169, 188, and 170 last semester, have not taken ee122.

CS188 is a relatively light workload… there are 5 projects, but unless you’re after extra credit those can be done in under a day. Homeworks are all on edX, you can try until you get it right, those are also pretty short and do-able in a day. Conceptually it could be a tricky class, though that depends on you. The only thing to watch out for is the exams, they’re a lot harder than the homeworks/projects.

CS169 was a really really big workload, but a lot of that depends on your project and your group. I had Fox/Patterson, and there were a lot of surprise homeworks with only a couple days to figure them out, constant deadlines (one or two big things due every week) and everything was really fast. I assume someone else is teaching Spring, so homeworks might be different. But either way, there’s a giant project to do. Expect that one to take up a lot of time.

EE122 I haven’t taken, but overall I’d say it’s probably do-able, assuming you’re only taking those three classes.
