Is it true that professors require us to read more than 100 pages per lecture?
I am aware that the required reading may vary, but in general.

Considering we are covering an entire year’s worth of work into only 3 months, I would say yeah, that’s true

What do you mean an entire year’s worth and what class are we talking about?

I think the reason not too many people responded is because it honestly varies so much from class to class. There are times when you’ll have hundreds of pages of reading and 2 papers due the next week, and there could be other times when you only have ~50 pages per week per class. It all depends on class and professor.

Specifically for what class? (Like the above reply mentioned)

Revelle’s Humanities class typically assigns 50–150 pages of reading per lecture.

^Same with MMW… I hate GE’s haha

This is why we chose a UC right?

for the workload and title

Bio majors and Engineering majors usually get a ****pile of work to do. If they have it “easy” then they probably aren’t doing all that impressive in their classes.

What kinda work bio majors and Engineering majors do? I mean there cannot be that many readings to do compare to poli sci or econ majors.

i don’t think bio/chem majors do all that much reading. it’s more of understanding the material and being able to apply your knowledge to something practical.

Problem sets. And it’s not just scrambling in the problem sets at the last minute. It’s thoroughly doing each problem and suspecting the tricky ones at the end will be the questions that make the difference between C’s and A’s… AFTER reading the book… unless your professor really makes it easy for you to understand it all without having to read. (This advice is for those that really want the A)

I took a Poli Sci: Int’l Relations Class and that had about 100 pages a night of reading. Your best bet was to skim read the headlines and skip to the last page that summed up the headline in order to keep up with the pace of the class.

Do Lower div. class of Poli Sci require that much of reading or is it just for upper div?

^I took a lower div poli sci and the workload was out of control. I have never been that stressed. It was around 100 pages of reading per lecture (sometimes 200) plus papers.

^^^which lower division POLI course was it? which instructor?

Poli 11 with Fisk.

ETA: I would really recommend this prof even though his class is hard. He is amaaazing.
