I am still trying to decide between UMich and another school. The only downside to UMich for me is that, besides having to pay a lot, I also have a $3000 Fed Workstudy. My question is, is it managable to do the workstudy and still have enough time to study? I know UMich Engineering is very difficult, but I am afraid that having a workstudy will make it even more difficult.

come on, somebody answer!

I think generally work-studies are set up to not be an onerous burden on a student, time-wise. Since the jobs are on campus, they are often also flexible about, say, needing to work fewer hours around midterms.

Some people believe that work study jobs are beneficial because they help a student get integrated at least one other place on campus than he or she would have anyway. That is, you'll get to know some other people, another office, some additional staff.
