World Cup 2010

I’m more surprised that Ronaldinho got cut from the Brazilian team. He was a superstar just a couple years ago

well he’s doing pretty horrible now lol

Yeah rossi should have just played for US, haha him and altidore would be a great combo for years to come.

So Drogba fractured his arm and told a teammate he will miss the WC. I’m going t say it’s over for Ivory Coast.

USA didn’t actually do “well” in Confed Cup last year. They went 2-3, just happened to get into the semis on pure luck, and got a 1 in 10 win over Spain. I think they will get out of the group stage though, but man - that 1st half vs. Turkey last Saturday was uggggggly.

Oh, and Rio Ferdinand is out (starting CB for England) for the Cup, so that should help us in the game vs. England in 8 days. If Guch can maintain Rooney, the USA has a great chance because England has not had that great of a year to be quite honest. They just haven’t played like an elite team in recent years. They have ALL the pressure on them (if they lose, people go crazy, if they win, they were expected to win and a draw is also unacceptable). And England ALWAYS chokes in big tournaments.

Less than 7 exact days to go! 6 days and 17 hours to be more specific!

And @pramirez - it was over for Cote d’Ivoire after they drew their group. Brazil AND Portugal!? Ouch.

I’ll be watching USA vs. Australia tomorrow after SATs with great angst. Please: No injuries!!! and please allow the starting XI to get hot/play well.

I thought Ivory Coast had a legitimate chance to beat Portugal but not Brazil. Well, that’s not happening anymore. If the US beats England which is becoming more of a possibility, They would play Serbia who a very beatable and then either Mexico or France (probably France but I picked Mexico to upset) who they can beat. Reaching the Semifinals is actually a possibility for this US team. They would play Brazil there and lose, but still, it’s a big deal.

I don’t see how USA beating England is any more possible than it was before. Rio has been injured for all but 13 games this season and has been out of form due to problems with his knee and back.

Portugal all the way!

Haha funny guy.

Portugal is not looking very good. They’re definitely not going all the way.

My quick thoughts:

Group A: France isn’t guaranteed anything in this group. They just aren’t that good of a team right now. All they have right now is brand name of FRANCE and some big name players.

Group E: Netherland looks really strong as always, but injuries can always shake things up. If Etoo keeps acting like a little boy, Cameroon might be finished…

Group F: I don’t think Italy is a Cup contender this year, and with Pirlo out the first game, I would be worried.

Group G: Brazil go through for sure and as much as I hate it, with Drogba out, Cote Divoire will definitely struggle against Portugal.

Group H: Spain most likely will and should win the group. Match against Chile is interesting.

Ouch. Ugly game for US despite a win. The good news is: We’re not Australia. Those guys are going to get romped by Germany big time next Sunday.

Australia basically handed the US 5 or 6 free goals, but US only capitalized on one (Buddle’s goal in the 3rd minute on the giveaway). Findley was awful. He missed 2 open nets (though the offsides on the 2nd one was a little questionable [the one that Dempsey cleaned up]). He missed an easy through-ball to Donovan which would have been an easy goal. Gomez and someone else had a 2 on goalie and Gomez messed up the pass.

US fans have a right to be concerned. Don’t expect this many, if any at all, free goals from England. If/when they do get free goals, USA will need to bury them.

Man…can’t believe Drogba will [have to miss](http://soccernet.espn.go.com/world-cup/story/_/id/5250486/ce/us/didier-drogba-broken-arm?) the WC

I’m like crying, over here in school. :(

Wooo!!!

USA vs England. We’re dead.

USA 1, England 1 at halftime

I feel really bad for England’s goalie…actually not :p

still 1:1, go howard :D

USA tied due to the failure of England’s goalie

a tie is a tie and I’ll happily take it despite what happened on our “goal” :)
