Who else is excited? Discuss away on who you think you going to win?

Here's the first set of games:
Brazil vs Croatia
Mexico vs Cameroon
Spain vs Netherlands
Chile vs Australia
Colombia vs Greece
Uruguay vs Costa Rica
England vs Italy
Ivory Coast vs Japan
Switzerland vs Ecuador
France vs Honduras
Argentina vs Bosnia and Herzegovina
Germany vs Portugal
Iran vs Nigeria
Ghana vs USA
Belgium vs Algeria
Russia vs Korea Republic

The tournament starts on June 12th.

Korea!!

I’d like to see Belgium win it though. Or Portugal.

I’m literally ecstatic. But I hate how /everybody/ becomes a soccer fan during the World Cup but it’s nice to see soccer get some recognition in the US.

I don’t know, I have a feeling Netherlands could take it. Their team looks strong.

Nah, they’re in too hard of a group. I think they’ll get out of the group stage, but even then, they’ll probably be seeded against the tougher teams because Spain is going to finish first in that group.

Russia’s not going to make it out of the group.

I’m Colombian, so I want them to go as far as possible. I believe that if things fall our way we will make it past the group stage and potentially we could compete for the quarter finals, if we are really lucky the semi finals.
Realistically, if I had to bet on a team, I’d have my money Germany (extremely talented) and Brazil (locals)

Germany is really good. Goetze, Oezil, Reus, Lahm, Schweinsteiger, Kroos, they are STACKED.

Colombia has a decent chance if Falcao is okay

Rooting for Brazil

I made a World Cup bracket on ESPN and had Spain beating Brazil. I know almost nothing about soccer, so I have no idea how good of a prediction this is.

That was the confederations final.

They’re both god teams. But on pure talent Id go Germany.

Bad news for Colombia. Falcao isn’t going. They’re screwed.

A non-100% Falcao will hurt Colombia’s chances. His contribution to the National Team during the qualifiers were not that extreme, other candidates like Jackson Martinez and Carlos Bacca could fill his role quite well IMO. Its just a matter on how much Peckermann trusts these two alternatives and if he has the courage to not play Falcao and risk getting fired because of it.

I read somewhere, and haven’t had the chance to confirm this yet, but apparently no European team has ever won the WC on South American soil. Its hard to think Germany could go on to win it in a place with such different climate, despite being stacked with players

Falcao isn’t even going. Just confirmed their WC 23 man squad.

And the new anti heat gear is supposed to thwart that problem.

Belgium looks good this year though. They might be the dark horse in this tournament.

I’d like to see Ghana get out of the group of death but thats not going to happen. I wonder what Italy will do.

I love Belgium this year. The Hazard brothers, Kompany, Januzaj, Lukaku…

Who’s getting out of the Group of Death? That’s the real question.

Germany is practically set.
Portugal, USA, and Ghana are going to have fight it out. My bet is on Ghana. Portugal is only built on Ronaldo.

Italy will make it out of their group.

England vs. Uruguay for the final spot. @TheLawrentian
