World Cup 2014 @ Brazil

I seriously hate making predictions :(

Today’s the big day. I have been waiting for this moment since 2010’s Suarez handball. The day Ghana makes it back to the playoffs.

Btw what are you guys’s thoughts about the Luis Suarez incident. I have a feeling that it might be some repression from his childhood. He probably got bit by his mom or something

@afroninja‌26

Ghana is gone now. They lost both Muntari and Boateng to suspensions.

@Hawkace‌ hahaha Ghana might not make it through but they can definitely beat Portugal without Boateng or Muntari. They have a decent bench

Stupid Ghanaian goalkeeper.

Hoping for Nigeria or Algeria to hold it down for Africa

That was an intense couple of games right there.

Wow. Such ferocity.

All I’m going to say is 1-2-3 VIVE L’ALGÉRIE(that is until they play Germany :frowning: )!!!

Lol Asia tried.

Eh.

So what are your predictions for the Round of 16? I have:
Brazil > Chile
Colombia > Uruguay
France > Nigeria
Germany > Algeria
Netherlands > Mexico
Costa Rica > Greece
Argentina > Switzerland
USA > Belgium

Brazil-Chile: Brazil can score goals, but so can Chile. I think this game will be a high scoring affair, and will be much closer than people expect. That being said, I think the home field advantage is too strong and Brazil wins.

Colombia-Uruguay: Colombia looks like the more complete team, and Uruguay will be lost with Suarez. Colombia should have a relatively easy time.

France-Nigeria: France is the team that has looked the strongest this World Cup, and Nigeria probably shouldn’t even be here because of a blown offsides call. France should cruise with a multiple goal victory, but Nigeria might sneak one in the back of the net.

Germany-Algeria: Algeria is excited to be here and wants to settle a previous World Cup scandal with Germany, so I think they keep the game close the first half. However, the German machine is too strong and Germany pulls away in the second half.

Netherlands-Mexico: This is one of the tougher games for me to call. Both teams can have potent attacks, but the Dutch midfielders are much stronger and will control position. The Netherlands will eventually break through even Ochua’s defense, and will win in a close one.

Costa Rica-Greece: Greece will straight up just park the bus the entire game because they don’t need a goal. Costa Rica will eventually break through late. Greece might have some counterattacks, but Los Ticos defense is too strong.

Argentina-Switzerland: The Argentine defense is much weaker than their offense, and the Swiss defense should be able hold off Messi and crew enough for Shaqiri to score on the counters. Messi can only carry Argentina so far.

Belgium-United States of America: Belgium has stronger individual players, but they lack the cohesiveness that the US team has. They also don’t like scoring in the first 70 minutes. The US win this one with a late winner from Dempsey 1-0.

Brazil
Colombia
Nigeria
Germany
Netherlands
Costa Rica
Argentina
USA

Brazil

Colombia (could even go all the way imho)

France (as much as I low african teams, I’ve got to say Nigeria isn’t looking that great. Their passing is awful. They definitely deserve to be here more than Bosnia/Iran though. France is probably the best team we’ve seen play so far)

Germany, but Algeria is nice

the Netherlands

Costa Rica (I made a mistake thinking Greece was good before watching their first match. Costa Rica is coming in with something to prove)

Argentina (Switzerland is really playing bad, except for their last game vs Switzerland. Then again Argentina isn’t playing that great either, but I’d still take them)

Belgium (very proud of the way the USA is playing, and I’m definitely surprised too. They’ve exceeded my low expectations. The USA won’t be able to hold off Belgium though. Altidore will likely be out again, and we’ve seen the toll the US offense took as a result of that. They just won’t be able to score goals, something Belgium is pretty good at

So sad to see Ghana go. We should have beaten the US. We may have been able to hold onto that Germany lead and we should have beaten Portugal. Players were making some really dumb and selfish long shots. Oh well, 2018, watch out! Oh and Belguim will beat the US, I just can’t see that much quality allowing the US to win.

@afroninja26‌

“Switzerland is really playing bad, except for their last game vs Switzerland”

2meta4me

Suarez might actually play vs. Colombia, as if his lawyer ends up appealing, then the process of judgment is going to take a bit, so he’ll be good to go against Colombia.

That said, I hope it doesn’t happen and I hope Colombia wins.

@mrnephew‌

The lawyer is appealing on what charges? We have video evidence of him biting. We have video of him holding his teeth. We have video evidence of Chellieni having bite marks on his shoulder. There’s no basis of an appeal. Suarez should accept his fault and move on. People are already pissed at him.

Don’t get me wrong, I agree with you. But while the evidence is condemning, it’s just like Alex Rodriguez in baseball. He has the right to appeal, and the lawyer’s going to ask for a “thorough and in-depth review of the video”.

Lol. The lawyer got 715.1 Million people on his back. Suarez is staying suspended.
