World Cup 2014 @ Brazil

Who are your guys semi finals picks:
Germany and Uruguay

Spain and Argentina

Germany Spain Belgium Argentina

im gonna go with brazil spain germany and argentina

Brazil, Spain, Côte d’Ivoire, Germany

Côte d’Ivoire is in my opinion the dark horse in this tournament. Yaya Touré is playing like the best player in the world, and this is Drogba’s last World Cup (probably) so he has to make it count. Gervinho has been playing really well for Roma, and the same with Tiote for Newcastle. Kolo Touré is also very good. Their goalie, whose name is Bery I think, is actually known to be two-footed!

That game was SOOO fun!!! The first US Goal and the Nigerian PK was basically right in front of me! It was fun watching the Nigerian fans because they danced basically the entire time.

I think it’s really cool how many non-traditional powerhouses are on the verge of great success.

Japan, Ghana, Nigeria, Cote D’ivoire, Belgium and Colombia all have really capable teams this year, all while traditional powers like England and France are in serious trouble.

Ribery isnt playing though

That’s the point…

Neither is Reus for Germany. Although with the German talent, the blow isn’t quite as great.

And you can’t say the French are in trouble. Last check, they were demolishing Jamaica (Weak, I know) by 6-0.

France won 8-0. I haven’t seen a blowout that big in a long time…

My Dad is super excited for this world cup, I’m Colombian and Colombia hasn’t been in a World Cup for 16 years, when I was born. Colombia is one of the better teams this year but too bad Falcao got injured.

Yeah, I was looking forward to Falcao.

Griezmann is so good.

@imagineer10‌ I can only imagine how fun it must have been! But it upsets me how whenever I root for one team between the USA and Nigeria, the other one wins. It’s also funny given the circumstances: in the 2008 Olympics, Nigeria were up 1-0 at halftime, ended up winning 2-1, and the USA could only score via a penalty kick. Six years later in a senior level friendly, the opposite happened.

France are in a bit of trouble.

Not at all, if you look at how well they played today.

The USA-Nigeria game gives me a little bit of confidence heading into the World Cup. The friendly against Belgium is going to set the tone for how the tournament goes…

Belgium will crush them.

I think that we need to hold off on our expectations considering that Belgium lost to Netherlands and Norway…

World Cups are very unpredictable, we could say the powerhouse teams like Germany, Spain and Argentina are gonna go far but sometimes some teams like 2010 Ghana could easily get to the top. They were one penalty away from reaching the semifinals in extra time. If only Suarez didn’t block the original kick with his hand.

My point about France comes from a WSJ article specifically highlighting the mental issues of the French team and the lack of cohesiveness, which I agree with. I saw a bit of the Jamaica game, and it seemed to prove me wrong a little, which makes me very happy. I’d really like to see them go far; I grew up watching the French national team with Barthez and Company, even speaking really broken French and trying to be like Zizou with my dribbles before the 06 WC. I’m not a fan, but a supporter, I suppose
