Is anyone else watching the World Cup? I'm practically addicted to the overall tournament now! I'm even following a few teams (partically the USA, Poland, and Spain... England a little bit...).

I think this might be a fun/interesting thread for us Wolverines. Any comments/opinions about any game or team? (I have one. The ref. at the USA/Italy game was horrible!)

keep your eye on Brazil and Mexico, i wanted the US to win against Italy because they were playing exceptionally well. Even after they were demolished by the czechs.

Argentina looks strong. England has not done well at all. Ghana will be a tough match for the USA. Brazil looks vulnerable. Italy looks vulnerable. I like Germany's chances. Mexico has been tough, so has Spain. Referrees have been worse than horrible so far. I'm rooting for the Netherlands, since that's where trance music was born, but I digress.

I'm Korean so Go Red Devils!!! I was really surprised that Korea even tied with France. I feel kinda bad for Zidane and his whole comeback thing. Park Ji Sung is ugly as sin but he's got an unreal amount of stamina and Ahn Jung Hwan is like the Beckham of asian soccer just not as metro or good... hehe.
Rooney's back so that might bring some life into England, Germany looks to have a strong shot this year, and I agree that refs have been overly critical. No offense to the US, but Landon Donovan is like their only hope.

You definitely have to look at Brazil, as always, and also Spain looked awesome in the second half today coming back to score 3-goals. If Rooney is healthy, England has a shot. Argentina winning 6-0 was crazy.
The U.S. played awesome against Italy, probably one of the biggest games in U.S. soccer ever. Donovan, Dempsey, and crew definitely have a shot to get to the next round, but unfortunately their probable opponent would be brazil.

After the US I suspect most people cheer for their nationality....France is making that quite difficult on me right now....if they don't beat Togo (which there's no reason they shouldn't) they're out.

Azure, SK was lucky that France's 2nd goal was not counted. Either way, I hope France will destroy Togo on the 23rd and will qualify along with the winner of the SK vs Switzerland game. Should Switzerland and South Korea tie, France and Switzerland will move forward.

Yeah, that header should have counted but I agree, France should have no problem with Togo even without their "Zizou". I hope the Swiss fall to Korea. hehe

I wanna watch the World Cup too but I can't because I don't have ESPN 2. Is there any sites out there that allow you to watch matches live or download them afterward. I've heard that Team USA is doing pretty well this time. I hope they come home with something. As for S. Korea, I like their spirit but last time they won 4th place because the refs were on their side, at least that's what I've heard.

No France would have 5 if they win. They only have 2 points now. It comes down to goal differential if all 3 teams have 5 points after their last match in group play with France at an obvious disadvantage since they have the least goals of the three teams so far.

Hey, how do u think Argentina will do? France and team USA really suck man. I am betting on Brazil and Czech. England will end in Quarter Finals. I am looking forward to a final betn Brazil and (Czech or Argentina). How abt you?

Some games are also on ABC (seems to usually be on the weekends) and ESPN.

I hope the US makes it to the next round as well. That would be sweet. However, as Poland is no longer in the running (I was hoping they would get further. glad they won a game though), the other major team I am rooting for is Spain (already in the top 16). If Spain and the US don't make it, then I'm for England.

Trust me, England will be totally punkd by Argentina.... it's South Americans all the way. However you can never know what might actually happen. Maybe USA? I don't think that'll be the case but Dream On dudes...

USA??? HAHAHAHA they got whooped by the Czech Republic...they will get kicked out soon.

Yea ur right, england probably won't go too far but I'll always root for them. It's always the damn south americans...they're just too good at this game.

umardarr, how can you like England? They haven't won anything of substance in the modern era (1970-present). And it's not like Europe hasn't done well in that period. In fact, in the modern era, Europe has won 4 World Cups to South America's 5. Since 1970, Germany has won 2 World Cups and 2 Europrean Cups, France has won a World Cup and 2 European Cups and Italy has won a World Cup and a European Cup).

Even England ancient World Cup win is questionable. A Russian umpire, clearly anti-West German, somhow counted an English goal that never crossed the line!

Thanks Alexandre.....I am a Brit! LOL...I was born and raised in the UK for a while before immigrating to the USA.

Thanks for pretty much destroying my country. You're a great person!

haha, just messin around. Yes the brits have their problems...but you can't deny the classic fish and chips and a walk around london, haha...like that has anything to do with the world cup

Oooops! hehe Oh well, I am Lebanese, but I tend to like the French, so I understand your loyalties. I love fish and chips, but British cuisine isn't that evolved. I was teasing about not liking the English. Many of my good friends are British. But they are overrated in Football! hehe
