World Cup

Brazil, especially Ronaldinho, springs to my mind when disappointments in this world cup is mentioned.

Italians seem to have problems playing football fair and square. I heard that Juventus and AC Milan, the two best teams in Serie A, will probably get demoted over a match-fixing scandal.

btw with respect to the Zidane incident, Apparently, Zidane told Moterazzi that if he wanted his shirt so badly, he shd ask after the match (M was pulling Z's shirt during the free-kick).
M replied with something offensive and Zidane head butted him.

Sad that such a great player ended his career in such a way. But, I doubt anyone will remember him for this action. He's too great a player for that.

actually france didn't need zizou in the pks. trez was the one who missed. zizou's replacement, sagnol, put his in clean.

when they needed him were those last 10 minutes, when things were really starting to heat up. i counted at least two excellent crosses that came down lonely, cause zidane wasn't on the field to play off them.

Ronaldo was a GIANT disappointment. In the game I watched he was HORRIBLE and walking everywhere.

Actually I read the interview in which he said that Materazzi not only insulted his family (more specifically, Zidane's mother and sister), but resorted to racial slurs.

My french sucks so I can't verify the statement, but Materazzi should definitely be penalized.

I dunno about this one... Domenach said in one interview that he would have liked to sub Zidane in the 115th minute to allow him to receive a standing ovation (which is weird because to my memory, he had used all the subs by then), but in another interview he said Zidane's absence during the penalty shootout hurt the French side greatly.

Meh, we all know Domenach isn't the brightest of the managers out there.

Sure, Ronaldo didn't do quite as well as he used to do, but he scored goals.

The Argentine manager made the biggest blunder of any in my opinion, in the Germany-Argentina game. He took Crespo and Riquelme out, and as soon as he did that, the Germans scored an equaliser; then the Argentinians weren't left with really a viable attack route. Plus, Cambiasso (who was subbed in for Riquelme, I think) missed his PK.

cambiasso missed the pk cuz he has a terrible hairline. people with no hair tend to overthink, thats why people like him, arjen robben, zidane, emerson, landon donovan should never be allowed to take a pk, EVER! zidane got lucky TWICE. hes terrible on penalties.
