World History and Biology

Hi everyone! I'm a sophmore right now and I'm planning on taking AP World History and AP Biology in my junior year. I want to take the SAT II's for these two courses as well.

Which books would you guys recommend to prepare for the AP and SAT II tests for each subject? Should I buy books from separate publishers for the AP and SAT II exams?

Also, which Biology SAT II division is easier, E or M?

Thank you!!

-Lily

E is easier.

APUSH, pick the Purple Book by Amsco. It's beautiful.

AP Bio. I would pick Barrons.

M is easier. Especially after AP. I dunno, I'd rather memorize random genetics stuff than ecology and kingdom phylum, etc. shiver I've know more people with 800's on M than E.

and since this is AP World (not APUSH), I'd go with Barron's. Just study with Barron's for AP World, and then take SAT II World in May (or in June if its too much pressure, but make sure to brush up on your History! chinese dynasties, African kingdoms, etc!) and you'll do fine. I went 5-770, largely b/c I did not study at all for my June SAT II. :p

dude i took AP BIO and got a 680 for Bio-M. I am damn proud.

OH sorry, I forgot it was World. I completely missed that.

For Biology, Cliffs is definitely the best.

Thanks for the advice, everyone!

I guess I'll use Barron's for the World History exams then.

But for the Bio AP and SAT II exams, I thought Princeton Review's book was supposedly the best ... or maybe it's just me? :/

I used Kaplan and Barron for the SAT II World History as a sophomore and got a 790. But also read over your textbook. The questions for WH may seem ridiculously hard, but remember that you can get like 12 wrong and still get an 800.

M's easier. The average score on M is higher. People do better on M.

And even if they don't, Smart people take M - and you should always do what smart people do.

Barrons comes across as being a lil' dry to me for World History.
I read half of Princeton Review for it and still scored a 4. :P

princeton review for world history....it just so good
