I got offered to take Spanish 5 instead of Spanish 4 Honors. What should I do? I didn't get recomended for Spanish 5 Honors because my teacher wasn't sure if a freshmen could handle it at the honors level. Should I stick with the lower level which is honors ,but practically boring review. Or should I go with the standard higher level where I can learn new things. I can maybe even convince my new teacher to move me into Honors after a few days or weeks, but I don't know.

it's up to you...

The point is, would it hurt my chances going to Harvard. I'm going for the Spanish 5 no matter what, but I need to know if it will hurt my chances. It's kind of controversial because spanish 5 is harder than 4 honors ,but 4 honors is a honors level class of level 4.

I say... take it and then next year begin another language so you have 3 years of another language.

I'm already Latin 2 Honors.

sooo.... then take another elective realating to your perspective major.... which is what??????????????

My schedule is filled. I have no lunch. My other elective is orchestra.

I meant next year... like this year do Spanish 5. Next year, keep doing Latin, but during the time that you had Spanish take another elective instead.... one realating to your perspective major would probably be best.

SO, Since you already know that you want to go to Harvard, I assume you already know what you want to major in .... what is it?!?!?!

um, there is are no electives for the medical field. I'm not going to stop doing Spanish 5, I'm going to do the AP spanish classes.

WHAT?!?!?!? Can't you take the AP test after Spanish 5 seriously.....

But for medical stuff you can do stuff in the sciences... see if there are any science/medical related electives.

What's the difference between honors and not honors? Like does it boost your GPA or something? Or does it just teach more, and that's why you want it?

nothing big...

Um, just the pace of the course. Honors is practically the same, but my current Spanish 4 Honors teacher said I should be in Spanish 5. He said the Honors would be too much for you. I'm only a freshmen, so he thinks I can't handle it.

Then why would you take honors level four instead of regular level five?

Unless...since you have such a busy schedule, you want an easy class?

No, I took spanish 3 Honors in 8th grade. I'm suppose to be in 4 Honors ,but my teacher decided to move me to Spanish 5. It's my choiceto go or not. I also have a chance of being in spanish 5 Honors once I prove myself to the teacher of Spanish 5.

Oh, okay. Well then if you think you're ready for it, then I suppose it makes sense to go....

What I need to know is what would colleges think? Which do you think they would prefer?

I doubt it would make much of a difference either way. Seriously, in the scheme of things, it's a fairly piggledy detail. Chill.

Well I am taking the course before AP in my freshmen year so it must be rigorous. I'm a few years ahead in Spanish. :)

omg seriously, you are way too obsessed. Like see-a-shrink obsessed. You need to stop worrying about harvard. YOU'RE A FRESHMAN. I don't think it would make much of a difference if you're in Spanish 5 or Spanish 5 Honors. Get over yourself.

It's people like you who do things only for Harvard, and don't get in.
