World Trade Center

my brothers fire company got called up to nyc that day to help

^^^
lol.

I LIVE in NYC. I SAW them collapse with my own 2 eyes. (though, I'll admit from kinda far, but I did see them) I SAW the debree that was lingering all day long as far as my home from Brooklyn.

And I STILL don't think it's too soon. I might not like them making this too movie production101 like, but I don't think it's too soon. I can't wait for Flight 93 to come out on DVD.

Don't give me that "oh, where were you" ********. What about when London was hit by subway bombs? Most of them were near, and THEY GOT OVER IT IN A DAY!

So, lets take an example from our motherland, not forget that day, but still move on with our lives. I don't see anyone bashing "Pearl Harbor", because you all got over it (and, you forgot it, which is worse).

Because Pearl Harbor sucked monkey b@ll$...

Well, that's a different subject.

Seriously, though, people these days are way too sensative. We need to learn how to let go.

^Let go of what? Forget your mother, father, sister--whoever--after they passed away? What a shame.

Runningcircles, can i just say ***? Did I say that I spent 2 weeks in a bawling mess? no. The following day I went about my usual business etc. There's a huge difference between living your life and making a multi-million dollar blockbuster taking advantage of a tragedy that happened less than 5 years ago.

sighAgain, the typical CCers HAVE to use their personal bias as well as sensationalism/emotionalism to get people to pay attention to them.

I can't understand why everyone is getting so offended by this. It was a tragedy, it was on every channel for a week, then we moved on. Hell, I think the forgetting phase is starting already. Get over yourselves. These people made a movie about 9/11 and they're probably going to make millions of dollars. Big whoop. You're all acting like it's never been done before.

It doesn't take any balls to make a disaster movie from the "good" guys standpoint. I'd like to see a 9/11 movie from the eyes of one of the terrorists or a WWII movie through the eyes of the guys running the concentration camps or a video game where you get to play as a Vietcong killing Americans. That would be ballsy, this is typical.

I didn't hear this kind of talk about Titanic, Hotel Rwanda, or other such flicks about tragedies. It's a tragedy, yes, but we REALLY need to move on. Why is THIS event so "untouchable" to everyone?

THANK YOU.

Quite impressive. No one has brought up conspiracy stuff up yet.

I've heard all that conspiracy stuff, and many of those people are a bunch of loons basing their arguments on "what ifs" and other intangible evidence.

i COMPLETELY agree. that would be interesting to watch. i hated watching "black hawk down" b/c it strictly about showing the american side and ridiculously over dramatic. it treated the other side like a bunch of savages with no motive or story. and i remember when "pearl harbor" cared so little about historical legitamacy that josh hartnett actually says "i think world war II just started" when they get attacked on the island. what the hell?

anyway, rant over. but i agree i'd love to see a movie that doesn't simply want to exploit emotions and will show at least both sides, and maybe even more of the bad (or in some occasions "other") side.

Actually, there was this movie about a Nazi who was in charge of one of the camps or something. I heard it was very good, but nobody ever heard of it. I'll have to check, but I know it exists.

Those would be good movies to see, but do you think the terrorists would wanna tell their stories to the film makers? contributing to the capitalism that they despise

mozilla, are you talking about the movie "Kapo"?

I really forgot the name. I saw it on Rottentomatoes a year or two ago and I was planning on seeing it, but I completly forgot.

Stupid fragile mind... :(

^um...i'm pretty sure a lot more people already thought they should've focused on more than two cops...

Runningncircles-- I think the CCer in this thread most using their "personal bias as well as sensationalism/emotionalism to get people to pay attention to them" is you.

To say that the city of London got over the terrorist attacks on their city "in a day" is clearly far from being accurate. To say that America moved on after 9/11 in just one week may be accurate to you and your family, but is so far from being accurate for a good portion of this country -- not just in Manhattan. To say that the "oh where were you on 9/11" is BS and unfair is, unfair itself. It's a national tragedy that many New Yorkers (and other families throughout this nation) personalize. I'm from NYC, my parents were both in the WTC on 9/11 (and both, thankfully, survived) so yes, my reactions toward 9/11 in general -- not just this movie, but the day-- are going to be very different than someone like yours. But you have to respect that because the day was different for someone like me, or someone like mozillameister, and realize that seeing this movie is really, really difficult for people. You may have moved on easily, but I know several adults still on sleep aid pills because of the vivid nightmares of escaping the towers -- five years later.

I'm surprised this movie came out so soon, but taking a step back, I'd only want it to come out near a 'major' anniversary-- like 5 yr, 10 yr, whatever. I don't like Oliver Stone. With one exception, I don't like this cast. I only saw the first half of the movie (I went to a screening for work and had to run out early), and I didn't think it was that well made. I was originally so opposed to this coming out now, but I think having an uplifting and triumphant story is something that people may need in the wake of the 5 year anniversary.

This movie was horrendous. Save your money. This was just a cash grab by Nick Cage.

BTW, BLACK HAWK DOWN WAS A FANTASTIC MOVIE. I really don't see how you can justify the craziness brought on by the Somalis. Africa is and always will be the supreme ****hole of the universe. It's a shame any of our soldiers had to die in that ridiculous country.
