Actually, caffiene doesn't make you concentrate less --- it does quite the opposite. It has proven to substantially increase concentration, which is also what the red bull can says. Drinking an energy drink before the test and one halfway through is the best thing to do, in my opinion. It keeps you focused.

yo so is it good to drink BAWLS or Red Bull? I wikipedied them a little and it said it's not good for you if your not used to caffeines. But does it really give you the concentration?

Um. Personally, I bring a thermos of chocolate milk.

Just... chocolate milk.

I'm a fan.

I find it perks me up and makes me happy. And, for a split second, I forget about the SAT. It also helps that its in my Beatles thermos. Dammit I love the Beatles.

This must sound ridiculous. Hey, I got a 2200 so i must be doing something right.

Red Bull would be your best bet. Not tooooo much caffiene, but enough to keep you going. It is the perfect amount to last you through the first two hours of the test, then during the middle break, have another one. It's what I do before all of my finals, during SAT's, etc. Keeps me very concentrated. Studies have proven caffiene improves concentration, so by all means use it!

As for BAWLS - it's kind of a HUGE caffiene dose. It might make you jittery if you're not used to large amounts of caffiene as I am. Go for the Red Bull or Monster Energy. I'm gonna do a Monster Energy before the test, and a Red Bull during the middle. :)

Cookie and a fruit. The best

One time brought some trail mix with almonds, peanuts, raisins, and some M+Ms for a little sugar boost, and another time I brought almonds. I think nuts are good snacks for a long-term energy boost, and they are relatively easy to munch on during the short breaks.

I ate through two pringle cans in the breaks......

all you need is sufficient coffee. come on, you americans should know that ;p

coffee/tea with milk and sugar, and a granola bar

i don't really agree with the sugar stuff. I think bananas are good. Sugar will slow you down eventually.

JKid, that's the cutest story i've ever heard. The Beatles are awesome!

After reading this, I think I'm going to bring like 5 red bulls.

Red bulls can make u crash (it makes me crash after like 10 minutes), and you definitely don't want to feel the crash effects during the sat

Red bulls will make you crash? After 10 minutes? Never experienced that in my life, and nor has anyone I know. I'd say you have a better chance of crashing if you go in there without any caffiene.

About drinking 5 red bulls... That's too much... Just have one before, and one in the middle.

just know that in the news a swimmer died from drinking way too much red bull during his swim meets, supposedly like 5 each day...it caused his heart to beat irregularly and he died

im not trying to scare any of you, but just drink red bull in moderation...trust me it is not good for you in excess.

Anyone ate nothing during the test?

My suggestion is that you don't take a trip to McDonalds or load yourself up with a big meal. I've met a lot of people who have made this mistake and they just get tired. Drink something with caffeine, a lot of caffeine and you'll be good.

I will tell you if you pay me $60 an hour

I agree with thegreatcosby- the best food is something you really like.
Eating something you love will make you happy and perk you up for the next sections. So bring whatever snack you really like, as long as it isn't pure sugar or something.
I brought frosted mini wheats.. mmm

yo is redbull really good? because everytime I drink it I get really thirsty like 2 minutes later

I had nothing to drink or eat before or during the Oct '05 SAT. It turned out okay; but I might have scored higher if I had eaten something.
