Worried about a LOR

I have ended up asking four professors for letters of recommendation and they all agreed to write the letters. One of them is well known in the intended field of study, and I've met with him to discuss my future plans and schools I'm considering. He is a senior professor, and talks in a Yoda-like style so it was hard to understand him at times. Lately, I've been thinking that there was some slight hesitation (English is not his native language), and I didn't ask firmly if he would write a strong letter. Now, I am considering emailing him to ask for some reassurance. Will this be too rude?

An alternative would be to not have him write any letters, but I am afraid that he might take some offense to this. At the moment, I am considering having the fourth professor write it since he has given me some positive feedback on my work (class projects and performance).

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Letter writing is part of the job for professors. They understand the need for strong letters. They wouldn’t be where they are today if it weren’t for the letters others wrote for them way back. Just be honest and ask him to be honest. I doubt he’ll be offended.

Have a honest conversation. Ask him about your strengths and weaknesses. His answer will give you an idea of what he’ll say.
