Worried about being rescinded

I was recently accepted into George Mason University, even though my GPA through high school was nothing to brag about. Even though we have one of the toughest grading scales in the nation currently (high school is in the top 30), I was shocked at my acceptance. I sent many letters expressing my interest in attending the university, as well as specified my requested major in my application.

My problem right now, is my second semester grades. For some reason, every teacher I have has waited until now to start giving us the harder material, and despite having a 3.6 for my first semester, it is now down to about a 2.6 for the 3rd quarter. I know I can pick it up 4th quarter, but it is going to be difficult to get a decent GPA with the workload I am receiving. I chose a very hard schedule this year, and the colleges that have accepted me so far are very aware of it.

My question is, at this rate do you think GMU will rescind my application because of my drop in my overall GPA from a 2.9 through high school to a 2.6, despite having a good first semester?

Worry only if you’ll be getting “D” and “F” grades for the year/semester.

I don’t think I’ll end up with a D for the year, but for the second semester it is definitly possible in my AP Statistics class.

These are my first semester grades. It was actually lower than a 3.6:
AP Statistics: B+
Sociology: B
Geosystems: B+
AP Government: C (I know, bad)
Advanced Marketing: A
Spanish 4: B
English 12: B+

These are my 3rd Quarter grades:
AP Statistics: C
Psychology (second semester course, first was sociology): C+
Geosystems: B+
Government: C
Advanced Marketing: B+
Spanish 4: B
English 12: C

As you can see I have slipped quite a bit. It is not horrible, but it is certainly a slip. Is this bad enough to be rescinded by a school like George Mason? I’m in state for this school by the way.

AGree with NSM, stay at c level or above –

For my overall grade or for all my classes? Either way that is good news because there is no chance that I will end up with a D or even a D+ for the year in any of my classes. I just won’t let that happen, but managing a C seems like the best I can do in AP Stat and English (Hamlet… ugh it was a rough quarter).
