I am an incoming freshman and I enrolled in a class called Music History 7 Film and Music...I know nothing about music and have never played an instrument or anything like that.

Does anyone know if that kind of experience is necessary for this class? Has anyone taken it? I don't know if I should try and take a different class instead.
Here's a link to the class...
Schedule of Classes: Class Listing

Chill out. I’ve read the description and nothing in it suggests you need to have prior experience of playing musical instruments to do well in the class.

Here’s the description: “7. Film and Music (5)
Lecture, four hours; film viewing, two hours. History of music and cinema, particularly ways music is used to produce meanings in conjunction with visual image. P/NP or letter grading.”

Film and Music won’t likely require any more musical experience than your high school Music Appreciation class did (assuming you took it in h.s.).

You’ll be fine, don’t worry about it! It’s a lot like music appreciation.
