Worried about doing it all for nothing

I want to go to Rutgers and take pre med classes but i'm worried about two things.
1) What if i dont do well on the MCAT?
and 2) My dad tells me how competitive medical is? I'm no special student and I'm worried that I will have done all this stuff for pre-med and when time comes around for med school, i won't get into a good one or any med school really and four years of my life will have gone to waste.
im in hs btw

is medical your only option? You could do dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, physiotherapy and lots of other things that are science/health related too. There are plenty of options available if med school fails to pan out.

I wouldn’t worry about getting into a “good” med school…if you get into a US med school you’re in a good one. Most people don’t really know what they want to do with the rest of their lives when they’re in high school, and if they think they know they will usually change their mind a few times. There’s really no reason to be worried about this right now. Enjoy your time in school now and if you have to worry about something, worry about getting in a college that’s at the top of your list. :)

That’s why you should study a major you love rather than one you think will impress adcoms.
