I am a senior applying to top schools as a linguistics/int'l relations major. I am in 5 ap classes, AP Econ, AP Spanish, AP Environmental Science, AP English and AP Calculus. I have strong As in Econ, Env. Sci and Calc, but my English and Spanish grades are 89.5-90ish, and I'm freaked out for finals. What would be the effect of getting a B in one or both of those courses? Would that basically take me out of the running? I've never gotten a B before in either English or Spanish, but I have ridiculously hard teachers this year. Thanks!

It's probably going to be fine. But since you're within range for an A, work really hard for your finals.

Yeah, I'm in your position pretty much. I don't think im going to make an A in calculus.

and plus i just bombed the AP gov final essay (which was a class i was doing pretty well in until today)...

I'm sure a lot of people are in your position. It won't kill you by any means, but definitely try for the As. Best of luck!

Okay, I know I can safely say a well-near A is not going to kill your chances! Five APs are impressive in themselves... all As, that is of course excellent and ideal. A B+ won't kill you. Do your absolute best, and avoid senioritis! Good luck with it all ;)

im in 5 AP's as wel bro; and im rocking the 90.2 in calculus; i just gotta hang on through the final and its straight A's for me too! that is pending on english too of course, currently at a 92.6!

I feel your pain there - my AP Econ grade is currently an 89.. and finals are tomorrow.. ew. Good luck on your finals though!

yeah my ap calc grade is just a shadow of my glorious precalc days...sigh =(

Ah, if you're deferred at an Ivy and you have 2 B's in AP classes (out of 4 AP's)--will this basically kill your chances since mid-year reports are supposed to be the most important element of your app now?

It won't kill you - according to one admission officer, one or two B's are acceptable if you have a heavy courseload. Of course, A's still look better...

I agree. Don't worry about "What if I get a B?" Just work really hard for the finals. Then you can worry if you worked your butt off and still got a B.
