Hey Guys,

I'm a second semester senior, who's freaking out about a really hard AP class. This class has always been kicking me in the butt and somehow I managed to pull an A first semester. However, in Third Quarter (we still have some time left to bring that grade back up), but I think I have a B- as of now.

If my year end grades are A, A, B+, and B (very conservative estimates) do you think that a top-tier ivy league school would rescind my application?

From what I’ve heard most schools only rescind is you get a D or an F, or if your gpa drops to below a 3.0. I’m not sure on the specifics for ivies

Sorry my phone posted it halfway. Continued: but I would be really surprised if the rescinded for 2 B’s

I doubt you’d be rescinded. If you were a straight A student before though maybe it wouldn’t be so good. I know a previous straight As student who received a warning letter for two Bs from Stanford (at the end of first semester).

^^Do you know more about what this warning letter was like?

Didn’t see the actual letter, but he was very clear that it wasn’t one saying he was getting rescinded, just that the school was concerned about his performance and did not expect the trend to continue. He had all As before, so getting 2 Bs after just first semester was a huge change. He thinks they were just trying to scare him to make sure he didn’t get even worse grades second semester.

I am currently a 2nd year student out of Pasadena City College. I will be graduating this June with 2 AA degrees in Soc Sci and Humanities. By the end of this semester I will have completed IGETC (I just need to finish my stats class). I currently have a 3.5 GPA. My first year I finished with a 3.8, but this past semester I was working 30+hours a week and my GPA dropped to a 3.25. By the end of this semester I should be able to pull it back up to a 3.65, maybe 3.7. My extra curriculars include volunteering at a museum and VP of anthro club. I am applying to all 3 schools as a history major and want to see what you think of my chances are of being accepted to UCLA,UCI, and UCSB as a transfer?

@Lagging
Yeah, I saw your post on other’s walls. I’m not too worried because these grades are for second semester. But still…yes I was a straight A student, and these classes have been particularly hard. My estimates are quite conservative. I think my A’s in first semester will balance these grades in a positive way. But just wanting to know.
Thanks!

Well they’re probably a lot more lenient second semester. Pretty much everyone does worse. They’d be rescinding half the class if they were too strict! I wouldn’t worry.

Im pretty sure you’d be ok with a B or two…obviously if you’ve been accepted at an ivy league school, you’ve proved that you’re bright enough.
